Color adds drama

Why be afraid of color? Add fall color or an unexpected color to your neutral pieces that you rely on for transition as well as day to day. This necklace combines opague quartz and banded orange and brown stones. The cool/warm combination makes it interesting and the size makes it stand out, but is not overpowering. For more information, see the Seasonal album at right.

Black chains are hot

I like to wear silver and gray as alternatives to black. Actually I like to mix them all. Here's a necklace that tops off such a look. A large, open chain that looks "bad" while still having a sweet, classic feel. The chain is actually speckled with silver. Should go with many standards in your wardrobe. Just $24. I'm still working on PayPal functionality for online purchases, so in the meantime, to purchase, please email me at mbosbyshell@aol.com. More black chains in the albums at right. Enjoy early fall, friends. With love, Maura

Quartz is chic and versatile

I have always loved quartz. It was the best part of elementary school rock collections. Remember those? Now I use it in jewelry and wear it all the time myself. I find quartz is a great conversation starter.

The first necklace below features irregularly shaped quartz stones nestled among silver chains. I couldn't resist alternating them with rhinestones. A little glitter and glam goes a long way. The layering effect of the chains makes the necklace wearable.

The second necklace is a mish-mash of black and silver chains with a smattering of pearls, metal, crystal, crackled black agate, and a large quartz piece. All together, it makes a strong, if slightly edgy statement.

The left necklace is $28, the right one is $35. To see more, click on the Albums at right. To purchase a piece of jewelry, please email me at mbosbyshell@aol.com.

Shimmer with black and silver

Black and silver is a great combination. Classic and chic. You can make a major statement (long silver/black chains, left), a subtle statement (short black glass and crystal, middle), or just have fun with it (silver parrots, right). For more, check out the albums, located on the right-hand side of the screen.

Simpe, but striking turquoise necklace

This necklace has pretty, speckled light turquoise stones. It also has a chic simplicity to it. I find that turquoise flatters everyone and it's a "feel good" color. The stones themselves have enough texture to be interesting. I love to work with turquoise, so I'll post more turquoise necklaces later.

Lt turquoise ovals Some poeple want to know if a stone is genuine turquoise or not. I use any "turquoise" stone that is appealing. Usually genuine turquoise is a deep blue or green, but it varies greatly. It's not always easy to find, either. Fortunately, there is a wide variety of stones available dyed to look like turquoise. Regardless, I make pretty stones into pretty necklaces. Of course, the dyed stones are more affordable. This necklace is $22.

Till next time,

Maura

I love jewelry. It sparkles and shimmers while it decorates our bodies. Jewelry pulls our outfit together so we can look and feel our best. I also love to design jewelry. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share my latest designs. Here, three strings of cobalt blue pearls are fun and classy at the same time.
